A Band Called Paul announced today that its debut live performance, as a five-piece ensemble, will take place in The Abbey Tavern in Paul’s native Howth on Friday 24th November, 2023.
Speaking of the gig Paul said “I’m delighted at last to bring what we’ve been working on in the rehearsal room onto the stage for the first time. And those familiar with the band’s music will probably be quite surprised. We’ve rearranged the songs specifically for the instrumentation that we have, to invest it with an organic, more live sound rather than use a bunch of backing tracks to recreate the recordings. It’s quite raw stuff, but in a good way.”
“I’m also honoured to be joined by some fine musicians for the night … Ola Pukowiec on vocals and keyboards, Niall Fallon on guitar, Michael Sheridan on bass and Tim McGrath on drums. I’ll be doing main vocal, guitar and some percussion. It’s an interesting and eclectic mix … of course”.
Speaking of the choice of venue Paul added … “I thought long and hard about where to start, and what kept coming back to me was “what better place to start a new journey than from home?” So I chose Howth. And The Abbey Tavern has a rich, proud history of live music. It’s highly accessible by public transport, has no parking issues and is in a beautiful location. It made perfect sense.”
